Default Hesitation

Hi guys. I have a 03' 700 sportsman , when I'm in high and going 10 mph, it's start hesitating. Runs smooth at idle and go in fast it's fine, only does it at 10 mph. I'm thinking drive, I just replaced the drive belt but it was doing it before that. Any ideas ?

You can check the obvious like a cracked intake manifold which the 700s were bad about, or even trash/water in the carb bowl that can cause one to idle, but run crappy when throttle is applied. But anytime any one mentions any sort of problem like hard to start, back firing, hesitation, fouling plugs I keep thinking about the Ducati ignition system that fails. That is if you haven't already replaced it with the updated Kokusan ignition kit.

Old polaris tech it's nice to talk to you again.last time I spoke with you I had problems with my ignition and you told me to switch it out, I did and it runs great. It runs fine but at 10mph it lunges. I really don't think it's gas related. It idles fine, goes fast fine, just slower speeds. I replaced the drive belt not long ago but it feels like 6 teeth in a row are gone. Lounging is the best word I can describe it to yo u.

Eliminate the intake manifold just to make sure. Sometimes hard to see as most cracked under the clamp. This could cause problems. If you rule it out then could be more than belt related. Might be time to check the drive clutch one way and washers along with the rear clutch rollers. Could possibly be causing the lurching. Ok, the intake is the rubber piece between carb and motor? If so it is cracked after clamp and hose is cracked between carb and filter. Vacuum leak ?

I'm gonna order the intake and replace. If it was sucking air , wouldn't it run lean all the time. The lunging only occurs at 10 mph.

Not all the time which can drive most people nuts trying to find the problem. They usually cracked under the clamp area, hard to see. They can idle good, but once throttle is applied they can suck air and hesitate and run lean. Took me a little while on the first one like this to check under the clamp for any cracks.

I saw an aftermarket on ebay , claimed to be heavy duty . Should I get it or stick to OEM ?
