I am pretty hard on my machine but here are some pics of used SS212 wheels that I have ruined from mudding. All it takes is a few good holes ....and a small swap.

More reason to make larger ITP DELTA steel.

Beadlocks are your answer. The outer rings can be repainted or replaced as needed plus they are generally tougher than regular steel or aluminum rims.

Itp delta steels are a super strong wheel. Bead locks dont ssve the finish, it still wears off.

Add snow and ssnd in the winter to the equation.

the really bad thing on these rims and it could have been tire size is hitting the outer rim. As soon as i got on the trail i knew the rim edges were getting tore up.

Had it not been the edge getting chewed up i would have had the wheels powder coated here for $275 and just done that every few years. At least with the beadlocks i ordered i can replace the ring... powder coat the rim and be done.

I run hyper on my xc racer. A whole season of wear and tear and they look like new with $40.00 worth of rings. They have to come off to change tires anyway. Metal rings you could buff out and repaint. They may still have some damage but will look good from a few feet away. And regular steelies are not as strong as a beadlock.

3 delta steels can be had for the cost of one beadlock. For me, there is no advantage to running beadlocks. The deltas are stronger thsn most aluminum wheels, and are usa made.

Id rather invest in tires.

I've hammered the dings out of stock wheels and kept on riding before.
