A lot of people don't upgrade tires because they don't need too. I only bought new tires one time when I got a set of mud tires I didn't need. Other than that one time I've always stuck with stock tires and was always happy with them. I have stock 26" radials on my current quad. Upgrading from 24" tires on the 450 will eat up most of the $500 difference. If the 570 has bigger better tires I would buy it.

 

The 570 has the same bias Carlisle 489 OEM tires as my 400HO, 25" vs 24" but not worth the $500 premium. I've got the same ones on my 400HO, not worth the premium.

Save the $500 for a winch.

 

If you go back and look at the op's intended use, the tires should be fine. If they are an issue, it will be with plowing and a set of chains should cure that if needed. Doesn't sound like you will need them though.

I would prefer the Kodiak personally as a Yamaha guy. That extra 1k buys some longevity and headache relief hopefully, but I don't view your usage as being particularly abusive.

On a side note, I have put some hours on that 330 etx motor in the ranger version. Other than absolute top speed, it never left me wanting for power. That included some decent hill climbs in West Virginia. The 570 will have more torque than that little 330, and in a lighter machine to boot. Power will not be a problem. Gearing for runs over 45mph may be.

 

It will probably come down to how much money I can save up. I was originally planning to buy used but right now, at least in my area people are wanting pretty high prices. I am seeing machines that are close to ten years old (500 HO's) and 700's that people ware wanting $4500-$4800 for with over a thousand miles. If I can spend a thousand more, (likely less then that) and get something brand new I will. If I end up financing the majority of it I will probably go with the 570, as the payment won't be much different at all. If I come up with the cash I might go wit the 450 and use the extra toward a winch and plow. Trying to save what I can now and then see how much tax money I get.

 

I agree that 25" 489s definitely aren't worth the price difference.

 

Another quick question. I see the 2015 and newer sportsman have the integrates winch system allowing for easier install. Are there any companies out there selling winches that will quickly connect (for lack of better terms) or is it only the winches that come from Polaris. I stopped and a local motorcycle/quad repair shop this week and they quoted me a price for a plow and winch. They said most of the labor price in the quote was for the winch wiring. He might not be familiar with the winch integration that Polaris now has.

 

The new Polaris integrated winch system is slick, its literally plug and play. id buy Polaris winch, and plow of your choice.

 

Without crunching the numbers the salesman "guessed" winch, plow installed would run around $1200.00. The shop I went to yesterday quoted me $1000.00. Maybe I can get them to throw in the winch and then I can get a Denali plow and be in it for a lot less.

 

The motor in the 570 is exactly the same as the 450 with 567cc.
