Default 2008 non EBS switch to EBS

If I acquired a primary and secondary clutch from a older sportsman 500, would I be able to swap out the clutches and make my 2008 EBS???
I know that I would have to use the belt for EBS.. Since its a different part # for EBS and non EBS.
I'm having nothing but problems with my NON EBS clutch set up.. 50 miles and the primary clutch bushing is wiped out again!! And i don't like having to "burp" the throttle going down hills and such!

Also, The wife is looking a buying a 2015 or 2016 sportsman 570 EPS.
Are these a good solid quad?? Is the prostar engine a good performer??
She don't ride hard she just likes to trail ride.
She is giving her son the 2002 500 HO.

Thanks in advance

Yes they will swap out and you'll have to have the ebs belt. Funny though most complaints are on the ebs clutches not the non ebs,but understand and having to "load" the clutch going down hills. Think the 570 has most of the heat related issues resolved on seats and plastic melting, especially on the 2016 model from what I've read. I got to ride the first one out at the old shop and really like the power. Present owners can give you their input on them.

I think its strange that all 2008 Sportsman models didn't have EBS. Or the fact that on some of them you have to push a button to engage it. It should happen automatically every time you let off the throttle. As far as the new Sportsman 570 being a good machine, yes I will agree with that. Best value in a 500cc class 4x4 utility quad. Good power and as OPT said, the overheating issues with the first year 2014 models seem to be a thing of the past. The 450HO is a little less expensive and the 2016 model actually has the same engine as the Sportsman 570, its just tuned to make more low end power and won't go as fast. For trail riding, it would be a great choice as well. It now comes with optional power steering just like the Sportsman 570, something your wife will probably greatly appreciate.

I thought it strange too,but looked at the "2002 Sportsman 500" in his post also. Figured it was this one he was talking about as this was the fist year the ebs clutches came out,but a non ebs drive and driven clutch was offered on one model also.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Hopefully he'll clear this up I guess?

That 450 ho will go as fast as the 570, and with all the torque it will get there almost as fast.

The 450ho uses drive by wire throttle, you could swap a ranger ecm in and have a sleeper.

Think I saw this in another forum also, but the cost of the Ranger ecm(over 400 bucks) added to the price of the 450 is right at the price the 570 would cost to begin with?? Didn't make much sense to me. But at times nothing makes sense to me anymore..

After having the smoothness of drive by wire, I want no more to do with throttle cables. Id do it, and with the difference close to $1,000 up here, you are ahead of the game.

Just going by the numbers, the higher hp of the Sportsman 570 vs the 450HO would imply a higher top speed. More hp=higher top speed regardless of torque. Swap in the Ranger 570 ecm and then you bring back the hp as well. Torque is essential to acceleration and for a trail machine, that's more important than top end speed anyway. 0-30 mph time is more important than if the machine can go 60 or 65 mph. I guess the point is, the 450HO is close to the same performance as the Sportsman 570 at a lower cost. And now with optional power steering, it has features to match as well. It depends on where you live as to the difference in price between the machines. If the 450HO is $1000 less, then its a bargain. If its $400 less, then they're so close that I would just get the 570.

Back to clutches, I rode my friends with EBS, and like it, but not enough to spend $600+ for new clutches. I just 'blurp' the throttle to keep the clutches loaded up. Still on original brakes too.
