Hi everyone. got a bit of a dllemma. we were replacing the piston on a 2005 ranger 500. several hands were busy disassembling the unit and when done we have 2 small seals remaining. the problem is that we also have the 2 originals but none of our old brains remember taking them out. this seal is about 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch with a hole in the center and was included in the top end gasket set. I have attached a photo. can anyone help us out? thanks

 

Valve guide seal.. Did you take the valve springs off for valve work? Plus could have been extras that were thrown into the kit.

 

I would agree with you except we did not take the valves or rocker arms out when we replaced the piston and rings. thanks again for the response.

 

Keep em.. Never know when you might have to tear into the head to replace a valve.Plus not unusual on aftermarket kits. Here's one with "5" valve guide seals instead of 4..
