Polaris 500 carb trouble.
I have a 2002 polaris ho 500 .I was riding 2 weekend ago and could smell fuel I took a look and fuel was drippping out of bottom of the carb.I noticed a hose was missing I found it and connected back up it looks like a vent line.I drove home. Then this weekend took for a good run and noticed there was a bit of fuel in the hose. The bike also started to miss slightly evey so often.Should the vent line have fuel in it? Maybe I should get a rebuild kit for the carb if so where would I get one.

Yes install a carb kit. Here's about the best out there. Made in Japan.Shindy Carburetor Kit Scrambler 500 1998 2002 Sportsman 500 01 02 Carb Polaris | eBay These carbs are hard to set right to begin with and a lot will still occasionally drip a drop or so at an idle, but shouldn't be a lot. Sounds like wear on the needle and seat or float level off or a little of both. Anytime you pull a carb off rebuild it.No sense in having to go back into carbs like many people have done when you just clean one up or try to adjust the float level. Again float level setting is critical on these.Plus here's a good post on this carb. Similar, but used on a Ktm,but shows what you need to know.http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=347184

I orderd that exact carb kit. When it comes in I'll follow the guide you posted. Thanks for the help the bike was really brought back from the dead. Its reliable now and it out performs alot of other atvs and matches some other newer brands of the same displacement .I could not imagine going with another brand. Thanks again.
