Default 93 350l Tool kit?

Hello,

I've been riding quads for a while, but just now got the first one I could call my own. My baby is a 93 trailboss 350l 4x4. I've been trying to find parts for it, and one of those parts is the oem type tool kit that would go in the little compartment in the back under the tail light. I've been looking, but the only things that come up are for a 1990 model.

Would anyone know if that year uses the same tools? Or a part number or something, or at the very least, an idea of what tools and sizes would be in it?

Thank you in advance and I look forward to reading through some of the other posts. (I did look for this question first, I promise. Lol)

I didn't see the tool kit itself listed in the parts for a 93 350l, this is from a 95 400l. Pretty much all the same. Owners manual would be different. I think I tossed mine and put a better set of miscellaneous tools in mine.

Thank you :-)
That's the same picture I get for the 1990 model, but it doesn't list what the sizes are. I assume one is for the plug, which is what I need most as this one has a bad habit of fouling the plug and blowing loud enough to make me nearly crap myself. Lol

A step down or drop 13/16" short box wrench is better to remove the plug than the one supplied in the kits. Popping back on the old 350s was because of a lot of carb vibration that dumped a load of gas into the cylinder and the gas would explode in the exhaust head pipe. A lot of times strong enough to pop the head pipe from the exhaust pipe itself. Changing springs might help if the old ones are weak and stretched along along with a new carb kit and checking that float arm is parallel with the carb body. 94 models addressed carb vibration with a dampener under the carb bowl mounted on the transmission. The dampener won't work on the 350s.Shindy Carb Repair Kit for Polaris Trail Boss 350L 2 4x4 92 93 Sportsman 4x4 93 | eBay

Ah. Thank you (and sorry about the late reply)

One thing we found when pulling the spark plug out, is that the tip was black and had to be scrubbed off with a wire brush. We think this is because I am having to mix the gas and oil, as the oiler has gone out. We assumed this was the cause of the shot heard round the world.
I have seen that pipe come off like that, but it doesn't seem to budge under "normal" circumstances.

Get a new BR8ES plug. Premix 40-1 with a good synthetic 2 stoke oil,any brand you choose.Any richer than that you'll foul plugs frequently. The oil pumps were only calibrated at a 50-1 ratio so 40-1 is plenty. Most of the popping back through the exhaust was on high speed runs and when the throttle was released and gas was was dumped into the cylinder. Just take the seat off,rev the engine up in neutral and let off the throttle. Coming back down to an idle almost all the 350s and 400s will vibrate and carbs will shake along with the vibration. This is where many had the popping back problems.400s solved most of this with a carb dampener. If yours doesn't pop back through the exhaust every now and then, count yourself fortunate..

This is a machine that had blown the piston and was fixed up again, if popping is all I get I consider myself very lucky. lol

I ended buying 5 extra plugs to take with me to the woods, and luckily haven't needed to switch them out in the field... yet.

Now on to another problem I have discovered. I apparently have no working cooling fan, so before I blow another engine, on to the research.

Supposedly this fan will work instead of those old fan motors(4170009) that were a pain in the neck to install the metal fan blades on. Shows to fit the 93 350 and 94 400 models.Polaris Sportsman 500 Radiator Cooling Fan Motor 1996 1999 3084267 4170013 | eBay If the fan motor isn't the problem, the radiator fan sensors usually were. Since they were at the top of the radiator they shorted out once coolant got below them. You might find one like this and wire your old harness into it. Most auto stores have them.New Polaris Thermal Radiator Fan Switch Sensor 1997 2000 Scrambler Sport | eBay

I was gonna dig into it today, but didn't. When I was out riding on the trails, I was in low range climbing a lot of hills. I looked down and saw a light on (later told it's the overheat light) and shut the engine off with the key on, but there was no fan running. Took a while for it to cool down, and once I was back in high range, was never a problem again. I'm hoping to mess with it later this morning. I've been told to look at the heat sending unit and a thermostat switch.
