Default Tap and die

Does anyone have any experience using a tap and die set for the primary clutch SCR-HH-M12X1.5X175 8.8 ZY3 LH thread and bolt?

If so, could you help me match which tap and die set I would need?

What model do you have that takes a left hand threaded bolt?

2015 850 sportsman touring. It is the bolt for the primary clutch and turns CCW to tighten. Is that LH threads?

Oh yes forgot about these having left hand threads on the primary. Had to look at the older manual I had on them to jog my memory.Like I mentioned in your other post probably cheaper to have a machine shop do this as a left and tap and die for this might be hard to find, plus cost of the tool for one time job. Shook the cob webs from the brain and a LH tap and die is reasonable, but if in doubt let a shop take care of it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/221407862767?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true http://www.ebay.com/itm/12mm-x-1-5-M...7vk32uNcgupCrQ

Thank you so much again! I ended up not needing the tap as I was able to resurface the threads of the bolt, but along the way found out how rare and hard it is to find LH tap and die sets.

They're out there but the average hardware store may not have them. Down here an Elliots Hardware or a Grainger Industrial Supply would have them in stock.

I see you've got it fixed already but I believe NAPA sells something like this and that it will do both LH and RH threads on a bolt.

For a bolt hole you'd need a tap.
