Default Roll bar for Sportsman500

has anyone seen an ATV fitted with an aftermarket rollcage, or roll bar? Our kids have friends who visit the farm and want to use the ATVs. I am worried about inexperienced riders turning them over, so have not let anyone ride them. I was thinking that fitting a roll bar would make them safer, but I can't see anything on the internet about fitting one. Does anyone have any advice.

I would be more worried about a "roll bar" turning it over than a inexperienced rider. Anytime modify something by adding height and/or weight you change the balance, center of gravity and weight distribution. Teach them how to ride properly. Set rules while they are learning. If they don't abide, they don't ride!

Ditto on stan5686's post. Unless you go to a smaller side by side or ACE I don't think I've seen a kit like you're looking for. Teach them right and hope for the best!

I've seen this thing for several years now,but I'd be more inclined to be afraid of it grabbing something and causing injury.http://www.quadbarsafety.com/products/quadbar

The problem I see here is giving free rein to the machines. Many of these kids have probably never even been on one, let alone have an idea how to resposibly ride one. Or even care what happens to them. This is a situation that could turn out badly if you're not careful. Kids generally don't always use good judgment. If you know they're going to ride anyway, might be a good idea to buy an older and smaller quad to let them ride. Less likely to get hurt and if they trash it, less money to replace.

Ditto on smaller cc quad, couple of kids here have them as learning ride. Or a side by side would be a better and safer ride for the kids.

The Polaris Military Vehicle ATVs have a roll bar. Maybe you could rig something up like that if you need it. A better idea would be to avoid situations where you feel you need a roll bar. Sportsman MV 850 | Polaris Defense
