WHICH PULLS THE BEST SPORT OR GRIZZ?
#1
I have heard that the Sportsman 500 could outpull the Grizzly 600.Is this because of the traction of awd or does the 500 have more power? If the grizz had the traction of Vampires could it make a differince?

Jamie,
I saw a video at the local Polaris dealer that had the two machines you're asking about. They hooked the both of them up by the trailer hitches and let them fly. Oddly enough, they were both dead even. The way I figured was that the more powerful motor of the Griz was offset by the true 4 wheel drive of the Sportsman. Now in a weight transfer sled pull, the Sportsman beat the Griz by a small margin. Frankly it seems to me it could have gone either way in that contest.

HHMMMMM..... I can tell ya that a Sportsman WILL drag a Foreman 450 with Vampires like a rag doll. I've SEEN that happen. I guess if/when the situation presents itself, I will find out for sure. I'm gonna have to ask Brad about that one. He's drug Hondas, I'll have to ask him about Yamahas (other that dragging them out of the woods when they break!!!)
I would think that with the better gearing and better 4wd/awd system, the Polaris would get him everytime. ALOT of it has to do with the RIDER though... ALOT OF IT!!!

I can also say that the sportsman and grizzly pull dead even when chained together at the hitch. I have a 97 Sportsman 500 and Chained it to my buddies 97 Grizzly and we just burnt rubber and both of our quads didn't move an inch. We were on dirt and partly grass area. And by the way I weigh 150lbs. and the grizzly guy weighed 250lbs. so that evens the weight thing up.

stock vs stock, I think the sportsman have the advantage because of the 4 tires spinning... but put a locker on the grizz and the heavier should win... both of them will spin the tires...
