I guess with the 2017 model, you won't be able to do that anymore. It has an all new 500cc prostar engine. No longer does it have the detuned 570 engine. Polaris also purposely raised the price of the 570 so the difference is a bit more. The 450 costs the same. Can-am did a similar thing with the new HD5 utv. It only costs $1000 less than the HD8. While the difference in power is not that much, 38 vs 50, the difference in displacement is over 300cc. The engine in the HD5 makes the same power as the Outlander 450L, the HD8 is a detuned Commander 800 engine. I'm sure its possible to reflash the ecm on the HD8 to get that power back. I have read you can do that on the Ranger 900 to get it to the power level of the Rzr 900 XP. Though honestly, the Commander 800 doesn't cost much more than the HD8 either. Basically what i'm saying is that Polaris isn't the only one making the mistake of pricing the entry level model too close to the next model up.

These prostar engines are good for 100hp per litre,Polaris detunes them. The thing with Ryan's tune is the 450HO puts out 40 Rear wheel HP which is more than a stock 570 dyno off at.

You would be money ahead to tu e the 567cc 450ho instead of buying a stock 570.

As for the new 450, not sure id buy one when a Can am oulander 450L puts out 38 hp but has gobs of torque.

But then again, a base 850 sportsman is a better buy than a Sportsman 570 SP.

I wonder if they do a tune for the 570 that makes it put out more power as well. Maybe its not that bad of a deal and its easy to remove the ecm and send it off to get it retuned. 40 rear wheel hp is a big boost over even the stock 570 numbers. 44 hp is at the crank for the stock 570, its probably in the 30 hp range at the rear wheel. So you're probably boosting the 450 HO up close to what the 800 twin puts out at the rear wheel. Not as much torque as that is a twin and much larger displacement but still a big boost. I'm sure they are working on something for the new 2017 500cc prostar engine as well.
As far as base vs sp models, it is a bit odd that Polaris puts certain features on the sp models like adc that aren't on the base model and charges extra for them. All the other manufacturers only charge extra for power steering, the rest of the features are on all the models.

The Polaris 800 torque was exagerated by the deeper gearing, pretty much a boat anchor. Which is why they are gone.

In the past models like this were the ones I was most concerned with.Sort of like the old Expedition 325/425 models and Sportsman 335 for example. Only kept around a couple years and then disappeared.If you own one now many hard parts are NLA from all sources.

I knew someone who had one of the Sportsman 335's years ago. Compared to the 500, it was way underpowered. I had a Yamaha Timberwolf back then and the Timberwolf with 100 less ccs was faster. The 335 was just an overweight slug. The Sportsman ETX that was replaced by the 450 would have run circles around the old 335.

I am glad my 400HO existex, got me my first atv, got me in the hobby. When I rrplace it, im thinking 850 ne t time.

How long is Polaris required to support the Fuji engines?

How long is Polaris required to support the Fuji engines?
Industry average is a little over 10 years,but all depends on how many particular engines were made. On a lot of the older two strokes aftermarket parts a lot of engine parts are out there. Hope it works the same way on the old 500 based 4 strokes as they are a bunch of them still out there and will for years to come.700/800s is any ones guess as to what and how long.

It probably depends a lot on how many of them are still out there. The old 2 strokes are still pretty popular. A lot of older Scrambler 400's still running for example and its been over 10 years since Polaris built any of those. They are a pretty popular dunes quad. A less expensive alternative to the other cvt auto 2wd option KFX 700.
