I have a 01 HO with about 225 miles on it. I have about 2-3 inches of play in the handle bar until I see wheel movement. Is this much normal?

Did it come with that much play? I would doubt it. Take it back to the dealer.

Just off the phone with my dealer, about an hour away, he thinks it is the bushing under the pod, either I can try to tighten it myself or if I stop by he would be more than glad to do it at my convenience.

It's under warranty, take it in. There may be more to it than he thinks.
