Default Belt alignment

2006 sportsman 800 need to move secondary clutch closer to trans to center belt, I removed the only 2 spacers behind the secondary clutch and belt still not in center of primary clutch . Are there shims for front of secondary clutch ? Parts diag doesn't show any. Any suggestions

Normally the rear clutch has to be shimmed out.You have to leave at least one shim behind the driven clutch. If the belt still doesn't ride in the center of the one way,I'd check the front motor mount for separation. If it's ok you can loosen the mount and pull outward a tad and see if that helps. Also check for any side to side play on the one way bearing. Might be time to replace the fiber and metal washer on each side.

Default clutch alignment

Is the one way bearing behind the c clip on the secondary clutch ? I do have some movement maybe 1/8 inch back and forth in drive clutch is that not suppose to move?
Thanks for your help

The one way bearing and washers are in the drive clutch. Has two vespel washers on the 800. Item #1. Item #2 is the one way bearing. If there is a lot of side to side play on the one way bearing, the washers may need to be replaced. This can cause belts to drift over and touch the inner clutch sheath. This in turn puts pressure on the rear clutch causing creeping, hard to shift problems.

You'll have to have the clutch puller, the spider tool to separate the clutch and a clutch holder. Some have made there own holders. If it's for a one time use, might be better to just pull the clutch and let a dealer rebuild it.POLARIS ATV PRIMARY CLUTCH PULLER REMOVAL TOOL 01-10 SPORTSMAN 800 BIG BOSS 6X6 | eBay POLARIS SPIDER REMOVAL TOOL p85 p90 CLUTCH RZR RANGER 700 800 900 SPORTSMAN | eBay Plus look at this video to see what all is involved.

Almost all secondary clutches will have some in and out play from the gear case output shaft.
