in 2002-03 the 700s came with chrome rims, mine did and had the Rawhides too, they went to the Carlisle Badland radials in 2004 with the new look plastics.
The first EFIs were designated 2004.5 models.
Look at the prop shafts U joints and the ball joints . mine developed the exhaust leak at front Y pipe and it was a worn donut.

Maintenance issue for the most part since you have the front prop shaft and also the short rear one. Front u-joints needs to be kept greased and some year models of the rear one didn't have greasable zerk fittings. If you ever need to replace them don't get Polaris u-joints as they don't have zerks on the replacements. Napa #338 u-joint will work for the front and rear and have a zerk included. Ball joints are a common wear item on all the atvs. Replacemnts from Polaris were supposedly "life time greased" meaning you can't use the grease fitting on the strut. Epi has ball joints that are greasable. Possibly some other makers also.

Check that you're charging 14 volts or so while at an idle. If not the problem could be a regulator/rectifier in most cases. To eliminate the stator as the problem check resistance between the yellow stator wires leading to the regulator. Should be some small resistance between each other with no stator yellow wire shorting to ground. This was a weird year on regulators for the 700 efi. Oem regulators are expensive. This is the cheapest I've found if you need one.

There are Caltric regulators similar to yours, but not sure they'd work or hook up the same.Shows for a 2005 and up. Worth checking into for the cheap price.https://www.ebay.com/itm/REGULATOR-R...NRpPsi&vxp=mtr
