When held next to the old cover it looks the same. I havent removed the old one yet but the measurement from the edge to the edge of the primary bulge ids the same. Is it possible someone already went to the bigger one?

Like I mentioned it was the updated cover,#5433542 that replaced the #5431961 cover that was used on most models back then. It's shape is very similar to the original but it's a hardened cover not subject to warping or collapsing as bad as the first one. The part number should be stamped inside. The later covers were the bulbous type that you'd have to change out your air duct or modify it to fit that big exhaust duct hole. Don't freak because if was going to warp, this used one would probably have done it by now.. Here's the big one that would work, but the screw holes didn't match up entirely with your backing plate, plus you'd have to make an adapter to transition down to your smaller outlet duct.

So it was a material, not the extra room. I will look for the number, the seller said it was the 5433542 so it should be right.

Disappointing to find that the seller was wrong and the one I bought was actually a 5431961. not a 5433542. So i contacted him to get a refund. Oh well.

Gotta be careful with some of those sellers on ebay. There's plenty more covers out there.Just let the sellers know that you know the difference between the two numbers and not try to pawn another one off on you. It's only listed on Polaris Parts as having an updated number.

Yeah, the 5433542 is only 105 new on amazon, so i will probably go that route. He responded quickly and apologized, and is sending me a return label, so it isn't a huge deal. just more delay

Yes if you order a new one even if it's still listed as the old 961 part number as some show you'll get the 542 cover.

I decided to get a new cover on Amazon, for 105 bucks I didn't think it was a bad deal. I have the gasket in so as soon as the cover comes that will be taken care of. We will see how the rest goes, need to get the duct and also chain and sprockets.
