This was just an after though from Polaris in the beginning as they knew the flex from the engine,soft mounts,warped backing plates,etc could cause the covers to rub. Doesn't matter if the bracket is a bit loose. Main thing is that the clutch doesn't hit the cover..

Ok. Well, it doesn't hit anymore, and after a 30 minute ride the rubbing was completely gone. I think that should be good then. Next things are air duct, chain, and prop u joints. Also brake pads later.

Went for a little night trail riding, and that's a blast! Pretty impressed with these little led bars. One thing this bike definitely lacks is good front suspension. This thing rides like a bull! Compared to our other quad of the same year, Kawasaki, it is rough. Maybe that's the nature of it.

Utility machine with chain drive instead of irs will be a little stiffer ride. May be time to replace worn front strut cartridges also after 20 years.

Ok. Not a huge deal, may need to run tires a little softer.

I will keep it in mind, but until I ride it more and kinda get a feel for if it will probably be a solid bike I definitely will consider it. Right now I wanna get basics done- air duct, chain, and also the rubber bushings around the steering post. The top one just under the pod looks like a pain to get to. The lower bushing or whatever is also somewhat loose, nut is tight so I am guessing that assembly is shot.

One job I hated to do on the older ones. Later models went to a regular bearing and plate at the bottom. Can't change from the old plastic one without changing out the steering post and even then the steering linkage may not work right. Have to pull the tank plastic up and move the tank back far enough to get to the bottom plate.Old one is held in with rivets that work loose also along with the inside of the plate that wallows out over time.Better to use some small bolts and washers on the new one instead of trying to rivet.

So parts 2, 14, and 10 correct? The lower isn't too bad, but I may replace it anyway. I found a kit with both

. I tried at one time to remove tank plastic, and it fought like crazy, and I ended up not needing it off so I left it. How are you supposed to get that dumb thing off?

Very carefully if you still have the handle bars mounted.. Once you can lift up the front tank cover(cab) you have to turn it sideways,get the hole over the left side of the bar grip,then it will slip over the other one and up and off. Same way for install. Took me a while the first time I ever did one also. Price on the parts is good. Make sure one of the plastic bushings has a hole for the grease zerk. just my two cents on the parts. Yes on 2,14 and 10. On some that people had been really pulling and jerking on the bars, the bushing bracket would get warped/bent a little and you'd still have some back and forth play even with new bushings. On those I had to change the bracket (#15) also.I usually had a couple of these in stock for that very reason. Just a heads up on this one.
