Today i spent several hours getting main bearings replaced and crank installed. Everything is ready for the halves to go together! On one
of the YouTube vids i found, the guy placed an o ring between the crank and bearing instead of bearing and collar. Parts diagram has o ring between bearing and collar, which makes sense. Just verifying.

Got halves together, right cover on, and after I install the crank nut the stator, flywheel, and recoil are going on. Then I am done! Oh yeah, and the jug and head are already done.

"Still getting over the fact that OPT will not be commenting anymore..." Yeah, I miss him. It's good to hear you got it up and running again. I didn't know how that weld was going to turn out but it works, so it must have been good.

Yep, he definitely left a large set of shoes to be filled. I hope it holds, I guess it is basically a large clump of aluminum so i think it will be alright.

Does anyone have a recommendation for the lower steering post bushing? I have heard anything is better than stock. Already tried Rick, doesn't make the brass version anymore.

Replaced both steering post bushings the other day. Now I can feel a hint of a left outer tie rod end, but it isn't bad enough to qualify for replacement,. Getting ready to hit the dunes!

Did you end up using stock bushings? They're not something I would think there's a big aftermarket demand for.

Yes. Actually it was a Caltric. I got an armature plate, brake pads, and now these bushings. Seem to be good quality

I have had a little trouble with the bike slipping out of high gear. Mostly when you shift from low to high and the initial acceleration is when it happens. Once it is in there is not a problem. Could it be the linkage adjustment?
