I’ve compared both - buying a winch that has a syn rope on it comes with a hard metal drum, vs the softer drum on the cable models.

Vantage winches are the cheap ones, with a high-strength composite gear housing and all-metal gears. ProVantage has an all-metal gear housing and all-metal gears. https://www.warn.com/atv/winches/line.jsp

I haven't been up there in several years. Sometimes I miss it. Any idea why the bridge is closed?

That sucks. One winter I crossed the bridge 5 minutes before they closed it because of high winds. They lowered the speed limit to 20 MPH for all vehicles, which I've seen before, but not a lot. I was driving a full size van and it blew me straight sideways from one lane to the other. The bridge itself was built to handle something crazy like 600 MPH winds.

ETA: It's been raining here so much today that I have less than 1 cubic foot of snow in my driveway, and it's not all in one place. The sun never shines between my shed and ATV, so there's a little bit of snow there. The rest is next to the street where it's been run over and packed down by my truck, since I haven't shoveled or plowed all winter.
