Aimed straight at the SPORT/Utility market, this could be hot. Pictures sent to the dealers to promote their June trade show have this new quad, with racks. Yamaha has always been very weight conscious, so this could be the lightest,
fastest, best riding super-quad out there. For those of us who dreamed of the 700 V-twin Sportsman, but knew it would be too heavy, this could be the answer.
A new SPORT/Utility with I.R.S. means better ride, better ground clearance, and better acceptance of a proven concept Sportsman riders have known all along.
Both the Grizzly and the Wolverine are pretty dead models. Rumours of a new Grizz with IRS have been kicking around for a while. But this is the first news that the new Yamaha is going to take a more sporty approach and take the Wolverine badge instead.
The ante has just been upped. Power with lightweight and suspension is just not that hard to conceive. It is what I've wanted all along, and the H.O. just doesn't deliver.

fourlix,

why would yamaha build a wolvering 660 with IRS, and a grizley 660 with IRS??

that seems like a big jump in engine size for the wolverine, i could believe it if it was the grizley. It will go from 400 to 660, WOW.

later

ledebuhr1- No actually it would be going from a 350 to a 660, but anyway i would love to see a wolverine 660 with irs under the 606pound standard, can we say haul a$$. Lets just hope they are smart and don't make it full time 4wd like the current one is. We would see a lot of these in cross country races. I am now getting very excited with all these roumered new quads, lets hope they go from roumer to reality.
