Polaris sportsman 500
im not sure the year of this but it was given to my mom after her dad died.. He had problems with it not starting.. well I had someone work on it and it starts now and it sound like a loud noise coming from somewhere.. I shut it off after starting it not wanting to damage more.. desperate need of help

Have you checked the oil? Are there any signs of metal shavings in it?
Is it a knocking, ticking or squealing noise?
Where is it coming from on the motor? Top end, bottom end?
Just need a little more info.
