2000 Polaris sportsman 500 4x4 issues

In both High and low range? Does the 4x4 indicator lamp glow? Check the voltage at the AWD hub coil connector for both hubs GRY and BRN/W wires. Should be close to battery voltage. If 12 VDC, then may be mechanical. I assume hub coils are ok since AWD in reverse, but you can confirm by measuring the resistance of each coil. Should be around 24 ohms each.. If no 12 VDC, I would check the trans switches. 2000 Polaris Sportsman 500 has two trans switches a front and rear and they both supply current to the AWD system based on the gear the machine is in.
