Default Strange issue

I have a 2011 Sportsman 850. Every once in a while the check engine light comes on and it will idle but won't rev up enough to even move. I have discovered that if I can get it rolling and cycle the 4wd switch from 2wd to any 4wd and back the light will go out and it runs just fine. Has anyone ever encountered this or even know what might be causing this? Thanks.

257 looks and no replies? Is this issue that strange? I know it's pretty bizarre to me. Don't even know where to start looking for the cause of this!

Here's one more look. That really is strange. I've never heard of anything like that and can't imagine what would cause it.

This is very strange. I'm not an expert but I agree that this is an electrical issue. Might want to start by confirming grounds are good and then start walking through all the wiring that resolves the problem to see if there are any shorts to ground or across different wires. I would start looking where wires have a potential of being very warm, near vibration, or is being flexed.

Please keep us posted.

Gremlins. That's all I can think of. Gremlins.

P.S. There's a lot of twisting back and forth of the wiring around the handlebar area and under the headlight pod. Something may have worn through and shorted out but you already know what I think it was. Electrical problems are the worst.

Default Strange Stuff.

By (Fixing your problem temporarily) it might be dirty contacts in some switch. Just a guess l have had no start problems with a 2009 Sportsman 800 and it turned out it was the the handlebar kill switch was cruddy.
