2004 Sportsman 500ho high voltage when 3000 rpm
Hi guys, it’s been awhile! I’m having an issue with my 2004 500ho, the battery indicator flashes when I’m crushing around at 3000 rpm or more.. I tested with a volt meter and I’m getting over 18v. At idle I’m getting around 13v
little bit of history, last fall day before hunting season my fan would not stop. Went for ride and the fan stayed on. I disconnected the battery and 4 hrs later when I plugged battery back in the fan came on. Took it to dealer and they said the ECM was bad . They also said mine wasn’t part of the recall. Anyhow they didn’t have one in stock but had a used one from a different bike. It’s hand written 2006 450 sportsman on it (Polaris part # 4011803). It fixed my fan problem but once in a while the battery indicator would come on... now it comes on all the time of above 3000 rpm.
would you suggest I replace first? ECM ? Where is the voltage regulator on this atv? Is it inside the ECM?
would you know what the OEM part number be?
my serial number starts with 4XACH50A84B40
thanks for any help in advance
