2005:atp 500;ho
2005:atp started yesterday running the fan with the key off and the hot engine light is on. I have done a little bit investigating as to what the issue is and have come down to either thermistor or ECM. Also called a couple dealers with the same suspicion. I called Polaris and found it isnt one of the bikes in the recall and that the ECM is no longer available. Also it is the only year that they had this particular MODULE. Now my question is ,has anyone tried retrofitting another year and model 500 Polaris to make this bike usable? It only has 325 miles on it in I only use this for the most part to plow snow and a little deer hunting Any ideas as this part is non existent and I hate to send something to the salvage yard that looks this good and drives like new

So this will work in my bike? Do I have to do any retrofitting as it isn't the same part number that is listed for my ATP. Both dealers I talked to and Polaris told me this was the only one that would work #4011085. I figured there had to be something that would cross reference to my machine.

Well in trying to not pay a arm and a leg, I tried testing the thermister today and I am not sure my old ohm meter is working right. So I started the machine and took a small ride to see if things had changed. The light is still on but now the fan wont come on at all. So that sparked the inner redneck in me and bypassed the whole ecu altogether by jumping from the starter relay to the thermister and then to the fan. Well when I did that the fan came on immediately , even though the engine is cold. Now I suspect that my ecu might be ok and it is the thermister. Any thoughts would be helpful
