I've been in the market for a cheap 4x4 that might need some work to get up and running, and I stumbled on a local listing for an older Sportsman 500 4x4 for pretty cheap.
Seller's details: "Polaris 500 Sportsman. Was running and operating just fine spun key way on fly wheel won’t run anymore. Have a spare motor for it, could be fixed or turned into parts bike"
For the price, I'm willing to buy it and do the motor swap myself, I'm mechanically inclined so I feel like I should be able to tackle it.
Is there anything I should know about before going through with it, specific to the engine pull and replacement process on these bikes?
I've been in contact with the seller, but it was late and I didn't want to bother him too much more. I don't have a VIN and didn't have a chance to ask him what year it was. Any guesses to the year range by these photos?
