Default Air-box breather hose flow and function.

So I have a 2008 Sportsman 500 HO EFI. I'm doing some projects which tie into the air-box.

What is the flow direction of the breather hoses?

Pass side hose (slit on top, pinch to prime) loops around to the top of the oil tank. I figured I can cut and top this hose with a small filter and mount near the location of where the slit was.
  • Should be open vented and NOT rely on vacuum pressure right?
Driver's side hose with the white filter dips down to the crankcase i think, and from my minimal knowledge, is an outlet hose, expelling left over gases from the motor. Without going into too much detail, essentially I'm going to run this hose to a low volume sealed catch can. Then run the outlet to a port on a short intake tube. I've never had an issue with excessive or pooling oil, but even a little blow by is inevitable.

Thank you.
