2004 Polaris sportsman 400 no power, start or lights
#1
Working on a sportsman. The story I got from the owner is it started smoking from under the handlebar and then it wouldn't start. Has power to the ecm I think like 8v dc and 12dc to the start switch. I added a ground wire for the wires grounded on the ecm and I got power to the lights dash and it would crank. I went to hook the battery up tight for a test ride and came back and it wouldn't do anything again, back to square one. Is it possible the ecm or CDI is bad? I did find some wires that looked overheated in the front area This thing has been worked on before and the electrical is it a nightmare. There are wires cut and loose and splice together and I'm really lost in there.
