2 Days of great riding
#1
I just spent this past weekend at the third annual Harrisville, NY Therapudic Mud Sling. What a great weekend.
There were 53 Bikes comprised of everything built except there were no Kawi's and only 3 Suzuki's. The terrain was varied from 4' deep Mud holes to swamp riding to rock climbing to tight trail riding and everything in between, there was definitly some tough riding.
The biggest surprise was the fact that ALL the bikes made it through this ride. There were spots I was positive that nothing but the best would be able to make it through but I was proven wrong. Spots that a 1984 small Honda would make it through and then an HO and a grizzly would get stuck. After listening to people with bikes and reading people's posts on this BB and others you would swear if you didn't own an HO or a Grizzly or a Rubicon you might as well stay home, well I'm here to tell you that ALL ATV's are very compitent and it comes down to rider ability and being able to watch what the guy ahead of you did and learning from that.
There were only two break downs on the trip. One was a Grizzly with after market tires that popped a bead, he also had a little fuel problem that was easily fixed. The other was a new HO with 27" tires. The bike was borrowed by the rider from a friend and blow the belt 1 mile from the end of the trip, I believe this was caused by the rider running in high range over the mountain rock passes, as I said we did some extremely technical riding and you needed to know how to use your machine and it's ability. These were also the only 2 bikes with over sized tires on them. I believe the tires in both cases were the wrong type to have on for the type of ridng we were doing.
Anyway, we all had a great time and look forward to next year.
