I have raced my 99 Stock Scrambler 400 4X4 several times against a stock 400 EX the result is always the same my Scrambler wins.
One thing I always do off the line is power brake my Scrambler in 4 wheel drive and I have yet to have a 400 EX beat me off the line. The only mod I have is a K&N filter which I dont think should matter. But I have never had a long enough race to go for top end.
I also have a friend with a stock 2000 Scrambler 500 4X4 that I ride with from time to time and on a drag race up a hill or flat land I always beat him too. On flat long its not much that I beat him by but up hill I kill him in a race.
I always thought the 400 and 500 where so close in power but I have yet to see that.

When I had my Scrambler 400 (slightly modded) I always beat 400EX's & Banshee's out of the hole. Just brake rev the Sport/Scrambler. It really helps if you have a HPD clutch kit
The 400EX's never caught me, but the Banshee's caught somewhere by their 4th& 5th gear.
No longer though, The new DS has already beat piped Banshee's & a Raptor

Hmmmm....I have NEVER heard a Banshee called a drag king? I've heard a few riders called drag queens, but that is another story. I am not at all impressed with the Banshee's low end power, but once you get them rolling they show their stuff. They are deffinatly not drag kings though. Maybe give that title to the Quadzilla I guess. Also, it depends on your idea of a "Drag Race". In my mind a drag race on wheelers would be a fairly short distance, 500' at the most. In a 1/4 mile, the Banshee would deffinatly win, but that is after they hit top speed and fly by. Anyway, this subject will never end.

Well it is true that the 400 Xpress I ride with will beat a 400EX in a drag, saw it, and will see it again anytime he lines up. He doesn't blow them away but in a 500 foot grass course he is a 3-5 bike lengths ahead and on the rail bed were we can race at full speed he is faster, if it was just one EX I would consider the machine is messed up or the driver is not very good, But when it is several different machines, they all cannot be bad drivers or have improperly running machines. The 400 Xpress is a 400 2 stroke liquid cooled 2 wheel drive machine. Why would a 2 stroke Scrambler have any better chance than the same motor in an Xpress? Well i know what I saw. Believe it or not MAG500 I could really care less.

Mag,

I put this in another post. Guess you didn't read it. Unfotunatly I didn't race the EX last weekend for two reasons. Neither of us were ready. He has some wheel bearings that were supposed to have been in during the week, but they never got there so he didn't want to race. Prior to finding this out, I was out riding my Sport and I made a stupid mistake and rolled it over a few times. I have pics on the link below. I didn't really do anything major, but it will not run because I busted my throttle assembly all up, and my steering arm/rod is bent. After I replace those two parts I hope to race. However, now that I have everything ripped off the four wheeler I was thinking of installing my pipe and clutch kit. I really wanted to race him BEFORE I did the work, so maybe I'll leave it off. Don't worry, no matter what the results were I would have posted them. I have nothing to be embarrassed about. After all, everybody knows that Polaris' suck and can't beat a lawn mower. Hmmmmm....we'll see.

-Josh
