Mother in law problems

My mother in law while watching our house while we were on vacation was trying to start my 2020 sportsman 570. Instead she used the winch switch and kept holding it. In addition to messing up the winch the red and black wires from the voltage regulator got stripped and crossed. Apparently causing some smoking. I’ve got ac power coming to my regulator. I however have no power in the wires leaving the regulator to the battery. I ordered a new regulator thinking that was the problem but it didn’t solve it. Is there some fuse or something between the regulator and the battery? Somewhere is could short apart? Thanks for any advice. She runs but is obviously not charging.
