Default voltage regulator

Okay this will sound dumb, but I have what I think is the voltage regulator mounted to the back of my 200cc quad. It has a cable that just dangles. What does it plug into? I have put 3 batteries on this thing and they drain while riding it. I have read most of the post about checking the regulator. Well I don't even think mine is connected. Help on hooking it up? What does it plug into?

Can you post a picture of what you think is the regulator? Let's make sure we really are looking at the regulator and not something else.

What brand quad?

Look down at the stator on the side of the engine and find all the wires coming out of it. How many wires, and what colors are they?

If you don't have a regulator plugged in the battery will go dead from repeated starts. But this could also be caused by many other faults in the charging system. If your regulator really isn't plugged in then that is definately a problem that has to be fixed. Do you have a voltmeter?
