I have a 96 SP 500 and need to replace one of the CV boots. The dealer said there are two types does anyone know how to tell them apart. The old boot only has a tear in it and I don't want to take it off untill the new one gets here. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah actually im doin the same thing right now w/ the same machine. Take the two half-shalfs apart, u should have to tug a bit to pop them apart. Then on the axle w/ the bearings on it, the outer most shaft, w/ the tapered end on it. Take a wire wheel on the 45 degree angled part on the shaft w/ the bearings on it, right close to the end where the big side of the boot goes and clean it up. It should be stamped on it somewhere. It should either say "USA", "BTB", or "NEAMCO", USA and NEAMCO take the same boot but the BTB takes a different one. That should help u out.
