What is it with the high prices of used atv's?

been looking for a used Trail Blazer of Boss thinking I should be able to find a good used one for 1800-2000 dollar range. Instead I find 1996 Blazers going for 2500. 5 or 600 less than brand new. To me a 1996 Blazer should be 1500(though it books for 2070 bucks according to KBB.com) unless it was never used at all. It is after all only 3 grand brand new and a 96 being 5 years old, should depreciate more than that.

I got my '98 Sport for $2500 last year. And there was a '97 Scrambler 4x4 in the paper the other day here for $2100. However, I have noticed that most 4x4 Utility quads are pretty high around here. Like a late '80's and early '90's 4x4's don't go much less than $3000, what's up with that. However, a newer Sportsman or Magnum that have hardly any miles on them are going in the $4000-$5000 range. So I guess that if someone were to buy a 4x4 Util quad, they would be best to buy one that is just a year old or so. I don't know about your area though, but we aren't far apart. I can take a look in our local papers and keep you posted if interested. Also check out http://www.hebdo.net . They are a Canadien internet site and you can get quads a lot cheaper up there (all prices on the site are canadien dollars, so multiply them by .67 to see what the exchange is). Good luck.

Man isn't it GREAT!! I buy them new, ride them for a while and sell them for almost what I paid. We just sold the '99 EXP for $4800 with 1200 miles. We cleaned it up real good, it had a winch, $69, a H.O. cam, and a 42mm carb and manifold. Paid $5500 new. So we had under $6K in it. Lost $1200 for 1200 miles. Buck a mile.
My friend has a 450 ES with 6000 miles. It is beat to ****. I would be surprised if he could get $3,000 for it. That's 50 cents a mile, I think he paid about $6K. My worst was the Autocat, which I couldn't stand and got rid of after only 106 miles, lost $500, $5 a mile.
So anything under $1/mile is doing pretty good. I have bought EIGHT New quads in two years, we have three now, never had any problem selling any of them. So keep paying those high prices for used ones so I can keep riding new ones. And don't be afraid to sell your quad. Just clean it up, make it look good, include a dealer service, it will sell, these things are hot.
