hey i have a 2000 trail boss and was wondering what the top speed is ...the first day i got it i had it clocked at 51mph....from what i hear that is fast for a trail boss...and now that i have gotten it broken in it feels a hell of a lot quicker on top end..so i was wondering what the average top speed on a broken in 2000 trail boss is

Mine on a flat gravel road, several passes, barely musters the grand total speed of 44.1 mph. Breakneck speed, I know. You literally had to pry my fingers off the grips after each run...(By the way, this is GArmin GPS certified)
You did get a fast one. My wifes goes the same as mine, by the way.

My last bike was a TBOss and the dealer told me it would do about 45 mph top speed. Never clocked it but from my best guess I think it would do about 42 - 44 mph. Not a screamer, but I rarely get to go that fast on the trails I ride anyway.

My 2000 Trailboss does about 52mph on blacktop. A friend of mine just happens to be the local law enforcement and he clocked me at 52mph(just for fun). I have lightened mine up a little and done some other minor mods.
I selling it so I can get something that will keep up with or outrun my friends sport quads. They all have different quads like 01 300ex, 97 Mojave, 00 Blaster, 98 Warrior, 97 400 Sport, 00 400 Scrambler, and a occasional Recon that I can actually beat.
Don't get me wrong I like my Polaris, but I wish it were lighter and faster.

2000 Polaris Trailboss
~DG alloy bumper (for a 400 scrambler)
~K&N jet kit with filter.
~RCR green spring & air box modification
~Oneal handle bars with Scott grips
~removed the rack
~removed rear mud flaps
~removed the front mud flaps
~still a TANK
~and it is for sale(with stock parts & extras)

2001 Kawasaki 220 Bayou(wifes)
~Removed the racks
~K&N power kit and Cobra exhaust on the way
~like it better than the Trailboss

With the mods listed below, i get 46 on mine. The bicycle speedo was calibrated then checked followed by my GCherokee.

The wifes TB does 50mph on hardtop gravel trails; when I pace her with my Prarie 400 4x4. I have not checked it on blacktop. I doubt it is any faster.
