Went to change the belt today, and expected to find it worn out(lost some top end and engaged too easily), and saw the stock spring in pieces. Was wondering what the difference is to the white one(this is a 01 SC 500 4x4 stock). I would hate to get a higher engagement and put the machine through the trailer..

ps. My 01 Scrambler and buddy's 01 Raptor are broken..the 91 Honda is just fine..

Fear not,
the white spring WILL NOT put you thru the trailor. It does raise the engagement speed about 400 rpms and makes your low speed engagement a lot more fun, wheelies will be effortless and belt engagement hits harder.

This being a 01 model,is it not still under warrenty?

Nope.warranty is out..bought it first week of October...The raptor didn't fare well either(carb problems).

It doesn't look like my buttons are worn out yet(300 or so miles on it)...But not happy about the clutch..

Thanks,

Bill,

Is there a spring even less radical? I really don't want to my engagement speed that much. Or from your experience, is the machine very manageable?

Thanks,

Rainman

Its very possible that you could of gotton a weak/bum primary spring from the factory. To my knowledge, there is not a weaker poundage primary spring except stock.I think you are worring to much about the engagement speed of this spring.Actually, its hardly noticable.

Heel Clickers has developed a kick A$$ clutch kit for your Scrambler, this kit is like nothing ANYONE else carrys and is rumored to be worth every penny of the 190 dollar pricing.Call 1810-694-5493.From what I've been told, you wont regret your purchase of this clutch kit and it makes all the differance in belt hook-up.

If you want to be less radical about this, call Rick Ritter at RcR #1618-644-3211 and talk to him about these primary springs, but expect FAR less performance in comparison to the Heel Clickers kit,

There is not really much differance between the blue/green and the white. The Scrambler 400 use the white as stock equipment. The only differance I noticed was in low range, it would wheelie pretty easy.

In my Trailboss the green spring made one hell of a difference. BUT the first time I loaded it in my 4X4 S-15 the back of the cab and bed did not fare that well.(would have broke window but I mounted the spare tire there upright in the bed) It broke the back bed railing, and caved the back of the cab in about an inch. Did not put a scratch on the quad.
If you haul your quad on a trailor or full size truck get the clutch kit, but if you haul your quad in a mini-pickup just get the white spring.

2000 Polaris Trailboss
~DG alloy bumper (for a 400 scrambler)
~K&N jet kit with filter.
~RCR green spring & air box modification
~Oneal handle bars with Scott grips
~removed the rack
~removed rear mud flaps
~removed the front mud flaps
~still a TANK
~and it is for sale(with stock parts & extras)

2001 Kawasaki 220 Bayou(wifes)
~Removed the racks
~K&N power kit and Cobra exhaust on the way
~like it better than the Trailboss
