Chain breaks will front wheels get me home?

I went about 15 mile w/ just front wheel drive & it beat the heck out of my upper body trying to hang on especially in gravel, loose dirt, going up hills etc.

Thanks for the info i was hoping it would do that just in case I broke the chain.
