I don't really know what you guys are talking about but I saw a 2002 Scrambler, I guess that's what they call the scrambler "X" right??

I saw one for sale in a Trader, I guess they are up here in Canada as well

Mike,
I understand what you mean, I was just giving you a hard time. I am happy with the current polaris products. I guess the way I feel, Polaris gives me a great foundation to start with and I can modify it to the way I want. When I first got my 400 Scrambler (sport) I loved it just the way it was, I got a little power hungry so I added a Pipe and Clutch. Then a few months later a got a lot more power hungry so I went with the 65HP kit from hotseat performance. When the 500 comes in I plan to do nothing to it (its for my wife and it has plenty of power for her, so its perfect, but if the hunger hits, I can add a couple of ponies.

Mike,
You are right. Polaris had nothing new to offer, that's why I left. Hopefully they will build a machine we all know they are capable of.

So, has anybody actually taken pictures of one of these elusive Scrambler X's? I'd be rather interested in seeing these photos...

I believe the Scrambler X is a Scrambler 500, with black plastic, an aluminum front bumper, and some other aluminum parts. It also has new stickers.

It also has a lower handlebar bend, different grips, alluminum rad( and bigger than previous scramblers) totally new brakes, and the steering has no play in it (lower steering stem bearing), and it starts with the key(like a car), so no more pushing up on the red button. I don't know if it is geared lower than the red scramblers, but it hits harder and faster, and wheelies awesome(for a polaris) It has a 12 tooth front sproket by the way. do the red scramblers have a 13 tooth C/S? Definetly lighter than the red 2wd scramblers(just pick up the front end.

I couldnt agree more. I love my Polaris but the lack of inovation that Polaris is going through is pathetic. I have a sister in Ca. her husband purchased the new Prarie recently, he was a Polaris guy but has nothing but great things to say about the new Kawa. He feels it would run a Sportsman into the ground and from what he has told me I dont think I would want to argue. I find it dissapointing that Polaris has been reluctant to improve their product line and stand pat on the reputation of the Sportsman. Regardless of whether or not they come out with something new for 02 they've given the title away.Mike, I had seen you at the Madera poker run and was wondering if you had any problems with overheating from the amount of mud and if not how you avoided it. There were a number of us that had temp problems after the rads got caked with mud.

Scram500man,

No overheating or any other problems to speak of. The fan did come on once at the second check point, but it ran as it normally does. Frankly, the hottest it's ever been is on the Marienville bike trail. Probably due to the slow running and having to stop and wait for people to catch up.
