Can anyone out there in www land give me some
advice on souping up the performance of my
00 Xplorer 400? I don't want to get into major engine work, just things like pipe, carb, reeds, etc. If anyone has done it then let me know if it's worth the money. Also need the best combo's for pvt mods/engine mods.

I'm no expert, but doesn't the xplorer have the same engine as the sport/scramler? If so, then you can look at past postings on sport/scramber mods. I looked at an xplorer, and decided to go with a sport, I realy don't need the utility side of it. But how do you like yours? Would you recommend it to others?

I have a 96 Xloprer 400 with a few mods. I first switched to synthetic injector oil - Polaris Brand. Cuts down on the "blue smoke". I then added a SplitFire spark plug and noticed a little improvement. Next on the list was a K&N filter and set of Boysen Reids. All this ran me approximately $150 (Canadian) including rejetting with the reids. I also added a rear bumper and back-up light hooked into the reverse light in the pod. The next mod will probably be tires since mine are alomst shot.

Increase in performance, I think so but I have no other 400's to compare it to. Let me know if you find any "low buck" mods.
