Toad, start with hpd exhaust. They are the best and produce the most horsepower. Then hot seat clutch kit. That makes a huge difference in acceleration. Get a delta v-force reed cage. Port and polish the cylinder and get rid of the stock piston and get you a wiseco. Go with sidewinder sprockets and did x-ring chains. They are the best.

2000 polaris xplorer, two many mods to list

Thanks meangreenmachine, those are the suggestions I'm looking for.Do you think the hot seat clutch kit is better than using an epi bigfoot kit,I will run either my 27" bi/tri claws on it or some 28" size tires. These 400sp's are great mudders.

toad, everything that i have read said that the hot seat kit is much better. Also the people there are really easy to deal with. I run 26" outlaws and turn them much faster than i ever did my stock tires. You might try running just a green secondary spring first and see if you like the difference. They are pretty cheap. Ritter cycles sells them. You will get lots more low end power and be able to wheelie with ease. You should also modify your air box. Maybe cut another hole in the top or on the inside to get more air to the motor. That makes a big difference. If you don't want to spend alot of money on the delta v-force reed cage, get some boyeson carbon fiber reeds. You will notice alot more snap off the line.

Mean greenmacine

Have you heard of any problems with front drive problem on Xplorers (250/400)?

My dealer is trying to talk me out of an Xplorer 400 and into a Sportsman 400. He told me thay have had problem with a 250 breaking front drive shafts.

Weedy, i can say with stock tires and no lift i never had a problem with cv joints. After i installed the lift i have broken 9 cv's. It is from the shaft moving out and then jamming back in the cv joint the wrong way. Now i have replaced my prop shaft. I bent it and replaced it. It was my error not the machines. I have changed my gearing on my countershaft from the stock 13 to an 11 tooth. It took alittle off of my top end. I can still bury my speedo and i can ride a wheelie in high range. I haven't seen anyone with problems on their xplorers for the front end. I think the dealer is trying to get you to spend some more money. The sportsman 400's are good machines but don't have near the power of the xplorer.
