500cc twin

Rooster,
As far as the kids quad I think it would be a great fit for Polaris. Being an auto would really help a young one. Did you see they make a kids sled now? It's 120cc Indy I think.
I got that same survey. I wrote about the same stuff you did! I also stressed a few times that they need to reduce weight. Can you imagine a lightweight Scrambler? That would be awesome

Lots of wishful thinking, but no substance at all. I doubt very much that Polaris would ever come out with a 500 or 600cc twin two stroke in an atv chassis. It doesn't make sense for them to do that. They are selling everything they make right now and are not considering sport machines. Their product line show it. Possibly a 4 stroke of larger displacement than the Scram 500, but that's about all I expect. Since the DS650 does not compete in the same market, and is a limited production quad, they could care less. They have their nitch and it's working well for them, at least right now. If they lose market share for any reason that will change, but I doubt it. The only people messing with 500 and 600 cc sled engines in quads is Hot Seat right now.
If you really want it, you've gotta build it.

Andrew, if you said the same thing in your survey, then chances are, they are listening to us. If they read a whole bunch of different surveys and see that people have the same requests, they must get to thinking. I too have told them to lighten all of their machines up in that survey, and focus on quality control more than what they did. As far as this racer goes, it's on its way, believe me on this one. A couple years ago, Dirtwheels had an article about new machines that were coming out in the future. Machines they predicted were: Grizzly, Suzuki Quadrunner 500, 400EX, Kawasaki Prairie 2x4, bigger Honda utility 4x4 (450's), Bombardier entering the market with a big bore quad. Machines they said will be out but are not yet: Yamaha high performance machine, bigger Kaw Mojave, bigger Yamaha Wolverine, and most pertaining to this thread, Polaris high performance machine, they even said they nicknamed it "the banshee eater". Somewhere I read that Polaris dealers were informing Polaris that they could sell a lot of racer quads if only they made some. The President of Polaris Industries said there will never be a Polaris high performance quad as long as he is president of Polaris. That president is not there anymore. So I do believe that it is on its way, and I do believe that it will be out for next year's lineup, if not, a mid year model. Also, I don't know why I'm saying all this, but not only is the Rubicon gonna be new in the big bore 4x4 market, there are a lot of existing 4x4's that are gonna get a displacement bump.

I really hope polaris gets radical and releases a violent quad to end all others. They would definately be able to do it with there awesome sled engines. I could see a 400L like chasis with huge suspension travel and the 800 tripple on it.
I would have to buy 3 of them.

You guys are right i'm getting all excited over nothing.
A Scrambler 500 2x4 would be prime. I would only consider converting mine if the front drive assembaly was seriously damaged. That's soon enough because i'm going to keep modifying the bike until the front drive breaks.
I have mentioned in other posts that the cylinder head on the 500 HO motors was originaly designed for duel type exhaust ( Like on the Honda 400ex ). Perhaps they redesigned the cylinder head and managed to squeeze that motor into a new light Super Sport frame. Light for Polaris should be 450 lbs out of the box...[ Giggle ]:&

Boner,
Yeah ok, I know what you're about with the 400EX. Didn't they have to though? That way it wasn't so peaky. I thought you were saying Honda was putting some big *** HP motor in something.
Polaris doesn't need a bigger motor, they need a lighter frame for the 400 & 500 cc motors they already have in the Scramblers.

Absolutly Andrew. The current line-up of Polaris motors, with some light tweaking, are deadly.
Polaris should concentrate their efforts in refining their current chassis, rather than designing a NEW ATV. So what if they decided to build an 800 Triple, if it still has struts up front with a mear 8.5" of travel, poor high speed handling, dual braking whats the point?
don't get me wrong I'd love to see a Super Sport Polaris ATV, but a bigger motor alone does'nt make something better.
