where is the starter on the 98 400 sport?
The lights don't dim when I try to start it so its probaly not the starter but i can try to jump it with cables to see if that makes any difference.

 

mattress400sport, it has to be your starter. On my xplorer it started to make the clicking sound. So i replaced the solenoid and it still did the same thing. Then i replaced the battery. Same thing. Then i took the starter out and the brushes were completely gone. Brush kits are only about 30 bucks from your dealership. My dealer had them in stock. Just take out the starter. There should be two bolts on back of starter that are attached to a bracket. Then there are two bolts on the front of the starter. Mine were on the inside of the recoil starter. Very simple to take out and install. Good luck.

 

im sure its not the battery.. i just wasted $50 on a new one only to find out that it didnt help...
i think it is the starter.. cuz i cleaned the silinoid and everything...
