Just venting

Ive got a gripe. As some of you may know I recently put my trailblazer in the shop to get some new crank seals. So its been in ther for about a month now.Well they said they would have it today(27th).I called about 12:20, and he said he would call me right back, he had to go check.Ok and hour goes by and he doesnt call back.So I call and he says the mechanic just got back form lunch and he'll go ask him, he'll call me right back.30 mins go by, and no one calls, so I called them back, he said he would call me right back.I know it may seem like Im an annoying little brat, but Im tired of their sh|t.After I called them last time they siad it was ready. So I call a friend and he says that we'll go get it in a little bit, he had some work to do, so when he gets ready to go get it.As soon as we're about to leave. The Polaris shop calls and says that they have to order some parts, and the parts wont be in till Friday. Also he says that the piston ahs "slop" on it(I have no idea what this is.He also say that the rod is worn pretty bad, and the bearings have alot of play in them.He says they wont stand behind the rod and bearings. They say that the engine wont hold up to long. What in the hell is wrong with my engine?I know one thing as soon as I get it back its going up for sale, and Im getting a 300EX.

If I understand you correctly, they have had your quad for a month for a crank seal which can be done in a day. Then they don't return your call, then they say it's done, and then they call and say they have to order parts. On top of that your motor is supposedly shot now.
I might be totally wrong but the whole scenario would leave me skeptical of whatever they told me. If they first told you it was done and then call back to say they need to order parts it all sounds fishy to me.

Sure glad we have these forums to vent on, my opinion is if you have a Polaris get used to it. I have two of them and am going thru some of the same things. Maybe the Mfg's. will read some of these grips and do something about it.

I've had it up to here with your little smart remarks about polaris ATV's bonzi!!!
Nauvooguy don't let a little seal make you buy a new quad, hell I cranked my scrambler off a jump at the local motocross track, caught 12 feet of air and when I landed the chain was through the transmission, I fixed it and it runs like new again. (my fault I tensioned the chain too much.hehe.)
Buy a 300ex if you like to drag race golf carts cuz thats about all they can keep up with. If your going to spend that kind of money buy a scrambler 400 2x4, fast, fun, reliable.
LONG LIVE POLARIS!!!

Nauvooguy,
the polaris dealer locate for the state of Alabama lists 27 dealers! if this dealer is a bum, then i suggest bringing it to a dealer that cares about your business.
just a thought...........
also, i think you should make a call to Polaris Customer Service. let them know how you feel!

First of all I would boot that dealer in the @$$. All of those parts they should stock. Not beacause those motors fail that regularly, but that is Polaris's oldest motor and their are thousands upon thousands of them out there. I was going to say millions but that would be a lie considering they just sold their millionth auto last summer, lol. Second of all you must do some serious riding to have a '99 that is already bored .060 over and the bearings are shot. This motor is not only Polaris's oldest but it is their most reliable. I know of 2 machines one an '85 and the other an '86 that have spent half their life being beaten and the other half pushing sprint cars. 1 of them is still 100% original including the belt!! The other has gone through a few belts and is only .010 over. So my third point is you have had to have some performance work done and not done correctly or you have had a problem with that seal longer than you think in order to be at .060 bore already. Anyway your dealer is definitely not treating you like a customer.

do yourself a favor, call polaris and tell them or email them..explain your situation nicely and also make sure you tell them of the quality service or lack their of that the dealer has provided you..sounds to me like they never looked at it,you called and they left you hanging so they could at least take it apart,at that point they found or maybe they didnt find this piston slap and rod damage and thats when they called you back and sang more b/s to you, because they probably thought they could slap seals in before you came to get it.. polaris needs to know about this treatment, also ask polaris about getting those warranty repairs done within reasonable time, not a month for a simple seal, thats rediculous..i guess im lucky in a few ways,1) quad hasnt needed to go back for work,2) if it does the dealer has a good track record of getting quads, even warranty work out with in a week..tear it apart monday, order any parts they need by mon. nite if they dont have them, parts come in wed. and your on the trails by friday nite..if and when i do need their help id have to drive an extra 45 mins because the 2 local dealers royally suck bigtime and i wouldnt buy air for my tires from them nevermind let the idiots work on my quad..you need to let polaris know, trust me when i had problems with the local dealers i talked with polaris and i was taken care of..i wont get into what they did for me but they made me a happy customer and turned me onto this new dealer..good luck but keep on that dealer

Yeah,
sounds like someone is trying to screw you over. A good mechanic should have noticed those other problems while taking the engine apart. Crank seals normally do not "just go out" unless the motor well used,(old) or something is wrong. I'm sure they never touched the motor untill you called, and were trying to work fast while you waited for them to fix, then they discovered the other problems. You can have it fixed and try to sell the pile of sh*t. Or you can use it as a solid base to build a jump for your new Honda or, just a non-Polaris ATV that can jump w/out putting a chain thru the engine cases. Other brands can also be modified to do a number of things including, but not limited too, drag racing in a straight line.
