Polaris Diesel (How do you like yours)
#11
Polaris has been working on the Diesel for over 7 years. The Diesel was made BEFORE even the Magnum 425. The 425 was actually based on the Diesel's motor(both 4-stroke). Then they desided to make a Gas version of the Diesel> So, they bored out the 425's motor and put it in the Diesel's frame. This is how they invented the Sportsman 500.
This is what the local Polaris dealer, owner, told me. Here is the site:

I dont concider my response as'' unqualified'' either.I have some pretty good sorces of information, the three Polaris dealerships that are in my area.Tree Farmer does'nt own a Polaris either, but does that ''unqualify'' him to respond to a specific Polaris question?Of course not.I seen the emphasis to.I felt it might be helpful to give out the little information I had.To know and be silent, is like crawling when you can walk.[or did I run?]Happy Trailing====BILL

Thank you Bill I was hoping someone else caught that and felt the same way I did. I don't think I have ever been unqualified to give out my opinion on anything. As I said before Diesel owners I was not being offensive I was just proving that I wasn't unqualified. Those are my opinions on the bike though.

I would like a Diesel, but can't affored it. With all of the power you could easly turn DUEL 28" Vampires. Who cares if it is loud and slow. You should be wearing a hemlet, right? I hate mine hemlet it blocks too much noise. Can't hear my engine :-(

TRXWFV- Why don't you just get a sportsman or Grizz or AC. Let me ask you one thing have you heard this thing. Now boys don't come griping at me for ragging this bike. I'm just stating an opinion that i'm qualified for. I couldn't stand the sound of this bike for 3 secs. I would much rather put 28" Vamps on something that I could ride semi fast. Either way with 28" anything your not going to go very fast. At least not comfortably. Even on a Polaris with its suspension. It is too slow. Everyone gets the need for speed every now and then and on this bike you are not going to get to go over 35. I could go faster than that going up hill on a bicycle. They also cost too much and weigh too much. I think it is one of the stupidist ideas ever thought of. Now there are a few cases where this bike would be good but I would rather have a Badger than the Diesel.

Boner Max has never had the need for speed I don't think. Anybody who ownes a Max or Diesel is just no feeling it. I take that back. Anybody who ownes one of those bikes plus a Banshee(well since we are on the Polaris site 400L) then I guess they might get the need for speed. I know my AC gives me the best of both world. It's fast and it will go anywhere. Same goes for for the Sportsman 500. Boner we haven't heard from Max in a while.
