hey guys,

I got a question for all you new X owners. I have always loved Honda's 400EX, but i ride in some EXTREMELY tight riding areas and have riden a blaster there before. Being without reverse in that area simply won't work! And it has soem HUGE mud holes as well, my Trail boss can make most of them, but the Blaster couldn't. SO here's my question:

Is the Scrambler X near the 400 EX's performance status? I know it won't touch it on a motocross track or anything like that, but how about out on the trail? a drag race? This thing just looks awesome, and i love the Auto cause it can push me through the deepest mud. The Manual clutch is great for me too, but without revers it can't happen. I guess what i'm asking is this : "I want a scrambler X, i ride with some blasters and a lot of utility 250-350 size bikes, so i don't need to have 400EX performance to make them look bad will the scrambler X at least come somewhat close tho?"

thanks alot!

P.S. this is not a bash, just asking a question, i hope everyone can be mature enough to give me an answer rather then an insult to MY brand!!!

I don't own a Scrambler X, but I own a Scrambler. I'm sure you know it is a little heavier than the 400ex, but with auto and reverse I would pick the Scrambler over the EX for trail riding. It has more power, but the weight takes some of it up. I agree with you on the fact that the Scrambler X looks sweet, the seat looks cool. The only thing you lose out on is jumping.

I own a scrambler and I ride trails with a friend that has a 400EX and I would have to say that that 400EX is all over me on the trails. It is much lighter and has the power to make it a really good bike on the trails. The scramber is an automatic and has reverse which is really nice and I believe is a necessity in the woods but that guy doesn't have any problems without reverse. I also like the fact that the 400 doesn't have any grease fittings to worry about on the front end at all. The scrambler has an inch or 2 more clearance but the 400 should out jump it. It all depends on what you are looking for I guess and what you like. The 400 also took best bike overall on trail riding in one of the 4-wheeler magazines. I am not bashing the Polaris but I think it is just about preference (what options do you prefer).

A buddy of mine has a 400ex and we had a short drag race, and I smoked him with my ScramX, the hardest thing was keeping my front end down, I haven't rode with him on the trails yet but I think it will be the same result. I know the Ex handles better, but I think I will make up for it in power. I am not saying that the ScramX handles bad, it actually handles very good. It just sits up higher, which gives you better ground clearance, but hurts the handling a bit.
