i love my scrambler but it is really heavy and 4x4 doesnt help keep weight down so what are some things i can do to make my hog a little lighter without sacrificing power and alot of money i heard nerf bars will make it like 50 pounds lighter and so do alluminum rims those are the two things i am thinking about getting any more things would be greatly apreciated!!

Here are some things that come to mind, I'm sure people will add more:

take out the electric starter
take out the oil injection
take out the floorboards
switch to aluminum rims
aluminum handlebars

 

And if you do remove the starter, you can take out the battery too. Don't forget you can take out the oil tank when you take out the oil injection.

 

but i have a 500 what do u mean by oil injection isnt that on two strokes?

 

artic, that is correct only the 2-strokers have the oil injector.

I removed the front transfer case and 4 wheeldrive on mine. That front transfer case weighs at least 50 pds. The only thing that was difficult about it was the front u-joints. Reply to me if you want instructions on how I did it.

It will really make your machine lighter. After I did it, the front end became much lighter and popping a wheelie was much easier.

I have an easier solution...sell your 4x4 like it is and buy a polaris sport or scrambler 2x4.

Hey Jondeer what did you do about the driveshaft? Did you remove that and if so what did you do about plugging the hole in your case?
