Yes there is hope. If it is a small hole just go to an automotive store and buy some tire pugs and plug the hole. If it a gash then you can try a tire patch and patch it on the inside and outside. My brother had a 5 inch gash on the front tire of his 400EX with 30 plugs in it. They came out and he put a tire patch on the inside and outside. Just make sure that you clean the tire where the patch will come in contact with it.

I have an easier solution to this problem, put a tube inside the tire. You should never use or fix a tire with a sidewall puncture, but if it's only temporary until you can get a new tire then you'll be alright.

Unless you are doing a lot of pavement riding, there wont be enough heat buildup on the tires to worry about running a patched sidewall. Especially since it is a very slow leak. A good repair shop should be able to hook u up.

If it is just a slow leak, try a bottle of Slime. Takes a couple of minutes to put it in and then you ride it around a little and no more slow leak, or for that matter, future slow leaks. With the stock tires being so soft, I had a lot of thorn punctures. With the slime in, it is not an issue anymore. If you are going to replace the tire, go with the new 6 ply 429 XT. Same price as original equipment in Dennis Kirk, but should take much more abuse.

I have used a tire patch on the side of my tire. It was a 1/4 hole. The patch has been on their a year now and no problems. But i am planing a trip next week up morth which is about 4 hours. I am having a new tire put on to be on the safe side.
