300 or winch
#3
slaughterhouse,
Last weekend there was rider in our group that had a winch (first time I had ever ridden with anybody with one, we usually are just sport quads). I tell ya, that thing comes in handy. I got stuck once in this really soupy spot and instead of jumping off and getting up to my knees in the mud he hooked his winch on to the back of my quad and yanked me right out like nothing. It was sweet. I deffinatly recommend one over almost any other accesorie out there for you utility guys. The only other thing that I can say would be nice for $300 is a start to getting a big foot kit our something, but that's all in personal taste. If nobody else in your group has a Winch then go for it, you'll be the most popular guy at the swamp. Where in Vermont are you from??? Take care.

do you ride alone? Then get a winch. Do you ride with buddies who have tow straps? Then get $300 in accessories? Winches can be the biggest waste and simply be something to add weight to your already heavy Polaris. Don't buy one unless you absolutely need to. And don't buy it to make a fashion statement. No one is impressed by a heavy quad.

I am from the south and unless you are into just racing a bike, you need a winch. Just like a 4 wheel drive truck, 4 wheels pulling is useless if you are going to be in a lot of mud. I use my 400 sportsman for everything from pulling a boat into a backwoods lake to putting up bobwire fencing. The winch helps me into the bad mud and will pull the boat anywhere the bike will go. With an attachment we use the winch to tighten bobwire as we build the fence. I like the warn 2500lb winch. Just my thoughts.
