When I start my quad the motor revs very high and you can't shut it off by hitting the switch from run to stop but when I open the choke it idles normal. WHat could be my problem.

It sounds like you have a lean condition on the idle circut. The best thing to do would be to take the quad to a dealer if you are unfamilier with the internal workings of a carb. Perhaps the pilot jet is plugged. What machine is it on.

You may have an air leak somewhere causing a super lean condition....that's not good on a newly rebuilt top end. Or it could just be a throttle cable not returning to the idle position.

I'm inclined to agree with Crawdad on this. Check the cylinder base gasket, your oil injection plug and the manifold where the carb boot meets the cylinder head. Some where you are getting a leak. To detect it, try CAREFULLY spraying starter fluid around the base gasket, the plug for the oil injection and the manifold. If the idle calms down, that is the spot where it is leaking.

I don't know if this will help you but when I was having my burned up piston problem I stripped the bike of the plastic in the woods and started to work on it. When all of a sudden it fired and then started to rev through the roof, the problem was that I didn't have the plug from the front part of the plastic plugged into the wiring harness (you have to undo it to get all of the plastic off). There was no way to shut it down at all the switches won't work so all I could do was pull the plug wire to get it to stop. I still don't know why it did it but it never has done it since. Of course I did have to change the piston and rings.

The only way to get it to stop was to pull the spark plug wire off the plug or if you can handle it reving like crazy for a while you can just unconnect the gas line. Once I hooked the connector up to the instrument panel I was then able to shut it off again. I just propped the plastic up enough to connect the plug and then I could work on it without incident.
