carb problems...help
#1
My bike sat up for two weeks without running and would not start. I got my 1993 trail boss running my removing the carb and cleaning it out with carb cleaner. Some grit was in the main jet which moost likely waas the cause for not starting. However, the latest problem is that it bogs/sputters at low RPS and does not idle anymore. It still runs well on top (wide open).
Before this problem starting, idleing and low RPM running were never a problem.
This is the first problem I have ever had with the machine. Previously, the quad started easily and ran perfectly. ?????????????????????????????????????

Weedy it sounds as if you may have forced some trash into the idle circuit of the carb , you may want to go ahead and clean it well and install new gaskets, needle and seat and such this time since you will already have the carb off. It is a really simple carburator you should not have any problems with it.

Kagey was right. I cleaned the carb a second time and blew everything with pressurized air and it seems to have worked. It is running great like before. I have to admit that the Polaris line of quads are high quality because this is the FIRST problem I have ever had with my 1993 Trail Boss. Not bad for a 6 1/2 year old machine that gets the hell run out of it. My car surely would not have held up as well as this quad has.
Went to my Polaris dealer and saw the new 250 4X4. Man is it ever nice! If I had an extra $4,300 I would have one in my garage! Anyone have one? I bet it runs pretty fast. My dealer said there has been quite a few engine mods since my 1993 which make them faster.
Thank you for the helpful advice with this running problem. This chat line is full of knowledgable folks who try to help everyone.
