Hey guys, I have a really hard decision to make. I don't know which quad to get. Either the 400EX or the 500 Scrambler. Can anyone help me answer some questions like whats the top speed on a stock 500 Scrambler. And how good is the 4wd? How dependable is the 500? Can it wheelie? Is it hard to drive? Is it fast of the line? Thanks in advance guys! I really appreciate all your help that I recieve!!

I don't own a SC500, as you can tell by the name.

But i will still throw in my thoughts.

My Trailblazer with the RCR kit can wheelie, the 500 surely can!

Top Speed? proably around 60 stock.

4wd..Works great!

I haven't heard any complaints. I've rode one, loved it! but i don't have the cash. So i just modded my Trailblazer.

The SC500 will walk all over the 400ex but on a MX track and in sand, the 400ex will win.

Overall i'd get a SC500 before a 400EX.

I have a
'00 scrambler 500 and it is awesome. It does do about 60 my sportsman 500 does about 52 and the scrambler easily pulls away from that. As far as the 4 wheel drive system, it works great. The only complaint i have about scramblers and other polaris's are their belts. A few weeks ago i tried to pull my friends 425 magnum out of some mud and it burnt my belt up. However that is not really what the scramber was made for. I cannot say any thing about the 400ex because i have never ridden one but i do like the automatic transmission on the scrambler and reverse.

With a nickname of Danthe400EXMan,why do you ask such a question?Your nickname makes it sound as though your mind is allready made.Would that not be the same as me''TACO BELL BILL'' asking whats better?McDonalds or Taco Bell? You go figure.====BILL

Hey scr,
Did you have your Scrambler in Low gear when you pulled out your buddy? That low gear sure helps when climbing steep hills, or pulling things at low speeds. Plus it extends you belt life!

In hondawheels i mean dirtwheels. the 500 scrambler does between 65-68, But totell you the truth i have never had mine wound for sound. even no i had it for 8 months. i THINK the scrambler is a better hardcore trail rider cause it has 4wd. And it will out climb the 400ex. tell you the truth we have to make new hills for mecause im makin up them all. and some are straight up i will try to get pics.

Dan,
the choice is up ot you, but the real limiting factor is, do you want an auto or manual shift, maybe it doenst matter, do you NEED 4WD or not? It depends on the terrain you ride on................
